Here’s introducing the 6 taking part this year.
NAME: Esyllt Lewis
SCRIPT TITLE: Gwladys, Gwladys
A young boy embarks on his first year in University after a traumatic experience. An older woman comes into his life to help him cope. This is an inter-generational drama weaving between reality and the surreal.
I write to understand more about the world, to experiment with characters and have the opportunity to play with words and be silly!
NAME: Martha Davies
SCRIPT TITLE: Deiniol
How does the loss of someone they love affect the relationship between a father and step-son.
I decided to enter because scriptwriting has always interested me. It’s a great opportunity to develop my craft with the support of professionals and to get the opportunity to present my work and get instant feedback.
NAME: Llio Alun
SCRIPT TITLE: Nain, Mam, Jen
It’s a piece that discusses grief, and in particular the loss of a central member of the family. In it we follow a teenage girl who has lost her grandmother (as happened to me) – an experience that shapes a person.
I write because I’m passionate about storytelling.
NAME: Lleucu Non
SCRIPT TITLE: Chdi
Elen and Caleb have always been best friends. But Caleb wants to be more than just friends. As Elen looks to overcome barriers in her life, will Caleb be able to make her feel better and admit her feelings towards her?
I’ve been writing since I was young because it gives me the opportunity to tell my stories through characters that mean a lot to me.
NAME: Ffion Angell
SCRIPT TITLE: Dianc o’r Dre
Dianc o’r Dre (Escape from the Town) is an original devised piece. Ruth’s life is complicated enough without her night out being spoiled by her ex-boyfriend sharing a naked picture of her. But over a 20 piece chicken nugget meal, her night is set to change for the best.
Directing an original piece is something that really excites me – seeing something come alive after all the hard work.
NAME: Lauren Connelly
SCRIPT TITLE: Gwagle
Written by Branwen Davies, the piece explores the physical and mental impact of a mental illness on a person; specifically the isolation of man struggling with a mental illness in a society that pushes the idea of ‘masculinity’.
I like working and creating together with different people – I think it’s important to open conversations in society for the better of our future.
