ŴY, CHIPS A NAIN / January 2018

A truly heart-warming family tale about dementia through the eyes of a child.

A truly heart-warming family tale celebrating the unique relationship between grandparent and grandchild.

Guto loves spending time with his Nain. A boat trip to Ireland, picnics by the sea, semaphore flags and fairies turning children into sausages!

But their biggest adventure is yet to come.

Written by Gwyneth Glyn, Ŵy, Chips a Nain (Egg, Chips & Grandma) is an honest portrayal of love, friendship and fun between two generations when facing life with dementia.

7 or 70 years old – it doesn’t matter! This is a show for the whole family.

Ŵy, Chips a Nain is a Welsh language co-production between Galeri, Caernarfon and Frân Wen with support from Pendine Academy of Social Care.

WARM WELCOME TO ALL

We want everyone to enjoy Ŵy Chips a Nain.

That’s why every performance will be relaxed and suitable for all – and here’s how we designed the show to make sure everyone has the warmest of welcomes:

  • There will be no unexpected or loud sounds/images.
  • No flash lighting.
  • We have avoided total darkness and all paths in and out of the auditorium will be lit.
  • The use of smoke will be kept to an absolute minimum.
  • We encourage all group leaders or individuals to asses and get familiar with the space before the show.
  • All theatre staff will be aware that the show is relaxed and that the audience are free to come and go as they please.

Reviews

Go and see this. It could be a long time until you see something this good.

Annwen Jones, Golwg magazine

This is a special play where the happy and sad worked in tandem and went hand in hand - like two lovers.

Cai Fôn Davies, Golwg magazine

A truly dramatic theatrical experience presented in a production more dramatic than anything I've seen from a Welsh theatre company over the past year.

Anwen Jones, Barn magazine
