Creative collab project for school haven.

S/ YSHO is a 5-week collab project with Caernarfon’s Ysgol Syr Hugh Owen to encourage pupils to overcome barriers in life through creative thinking

Funded by the Arts Council of Wales’s Creative Collaboration scheme, professional and experienced artists will work with the pupils to use the arts in a way that is relevant to them.

The project – which runs during the 2019 summer term – coincides with an exciting new development at the school, Y Gorlan, a special area for pupils to receive additional day-to-day support.

“We’re delighted to have the opportunity to work with Ysgol Syr Hugh Owen to ensure that creativity and the arts are central to Y Gorlan’s vision,” said Mari Morgan who co-ordinates the project.

“As a company we’re passionate about the power of the arts as a means of promoting and protecting young people’s well-being. We’re delighted that the school shares the same enthusiasm towards co-operation and co-innovation to help the pupils reach their full potential.”

S/YSHO ignites a sense of ambition and encourages pupils to believe in themselves and what they can achieve. It is only by experimenting, persevering and discovering new ways of working that creativity thrives, and that will be the main principles of this unique project.

The aim is to improve interpersonal relationships between the pupils and the school, and to encourage a sense of positive co-operation between the agencies that support the school on a regular basis.
