A network for new writing

We were blown away by the response to our recent writers’ call-out for our Popeth ar y Ddaear project. The energy, craft, daring attitude and the variety of new voices eager to be heard was truly exciting.

Because of this we have continued our collaboration with Eisteddfod Genedlaethol Cymru and Literature Wales by launching a New Writing programme that commits to supporting new playwrights in the Welsh language. Encouraging writers to dare, to experiment, follow their instinct and challenge the boundaries of theatre – site-specific, gig-theatre, musicals, plays, verbatim.

Sitting under our Artist Development activity, we’re seeking to broaden the range of voices heard across our stages, create exciting new work and to actively seek out and nurture emerging artists.

The scheme will welcome 11 writers and develop a new network of artists to share work and develop new ideas. Alongside this, the writers will be mentored by the Fran Wen team and attend skill development workshops with some of Wales and the UK’s most exciting artists.
