A project to encourage and improve community cohesion and pride through the arts.

We have joined forces with Brenig Construction, one of the UK’s fastest growing construction companies, to encourage community cohesion in Old Colwyn.

The unlikely matchup of the two North Wales based companies will see teams work closely with pupils from Ysgol Swn y Don to use the arts to reinstall a sense of pride and inclusion in their communities.

Community cohesion is a term to describe how we live alongside each other with mutual understanding and respect.

The Peulwys Parade project will see professional artists work intensively with the school for 3 weeks to design the evening parade. Artists include visual artist Mari Gwent, samba music specialist Colin Daimond, and circus skills specialist Cimera will add to the carnival atmosphere.

“It’s refreshing to work alongside Brenig Construction because we both share a hunger that far exceeds our remits; to build or put on shows. Contributing to and creating better people and communities – better places for people to live and work – is at the heart of our motivations,” said Mari Morgan from Frân Wen.

A lantern-lit carnival-style parade will bring the project to a close on the 8th of June around the Peulwys estate.
