Budding young creatives are getting the chance to pitch their creative event ideas before a panel of experts to claim £2018.

#2018 is a Dragons Den-style initiative run by theatre company Frân Wen who have set up the scheme for 16 to 25 year olds.

In addition to administering the fund, Frân Wen will provide support and guidance to the winning bid.

The scheme will support a young person or group who have an original idea for a creative event and are looking for support to help turn their ideas into reality.

“We’re looking for innovative and original ideas, but it’s completely up to the young people what they put forward. It could be an online event, a music and theatre hybrid gig or a digital exhibition – anything goes,” said Elgan Rhys from Frân Wen.

A shortlist will be selected from the applications and they will be asked to pitch in front of a panel of specialists at M-SParc, the new science park on Anglesey, on Saturday 6th of October.

The panel includes performers Seiriol Davies and Lisa Angharad; designer and art director Gwyn Eiddior; Ceri Charles from Arts Council Wales and Pryderi Ap Rhisart, Managing Director of M-SParc.

The project is supported by Arts Council Wales and Big Ideas Wales, the enterprise agency dedicated to helping young people develop their business and entrepreneurial skills.

The successful pitch will receive £2018 and professional support will be provided by artists and industry experts to help develop and manage their event.

Frân Wen’s Participatory Officer Mari Morgan, said: “Frân Wen’s participatory work has already supported thousand of young people to participate in the arts and #2018 will help us build on this success.”

Those interested in participating in #2018 should email elgan@franwen.com, stating what the idea is, how it will add value to the arts and what support you would like from Frân Wen to make it happen.
